It is used in certain percentages in Rum, Whisky, Vodka, Wine, Beer etc. It is produced and used by humans as drinks for enjoying the effects of intoxication. It is an intoxicant after all. It has strong negative and positive effects. Average people become obsessive by drinking alcohol without limits. Intelligent people drink alcohol for purposive concentration. So, learn the syntax and grammar of alcoholic drinks and beverages. Otherwise, your life will be spoiled. For intelligent people, it is good. For bad people, it is worse. Learn and enjoy it.

What is alcohol?

Alcohol a colorless volatile flammable liquid that is produced by the natural fermentation of sugars, potato, fruits etc. It is used as an intoxicant in rum, whiskey, wine, beer etc. It is formed when yeast ferments the Sugars in different foods. Alcohol is referred to by the name of Ethanol. It is one of the oldest recreational substances causing drunkenness. Along with this effect, alcohol decreases anxiety, sedation impairment of cognitive, motor memory and sensory function.

Alcohol has been consumed by humans for almost 10000 years. Drinking alcohol is generally socially acceptable and legal in most countries. However, there are also restrictions on the sale of alcohol- minimum age of drinking, public drinking and driving after drinking. Social gatherings like festivals, parties also include alcohol consumption. Consumption and sale of alcohol is illegal in Middle East countries. Some Indian states have also banned it. There is a minimum legal age for the purchase of alcohol.

In today's societies, alcoholic beverages are a routine part of the social landscape. So it is easy to overlook the health and social damage caused by drinking. Alcohol is popular worldwide because it can be used to get intoxication low cost. Also, hooligans can be purchased by wealthier people to get unsocial acts done by unemployed youths in poor countries. Many night clubs across the developing world have been suffering from overdoses of alcohol intake by unsocial and criminal people.

Negative Effects:

Alcohol has a number of effects on health, including short term effects and long term effects. Some of the short term effects are dehydration, intoxication, and some long-term effects change in the metabolism of the brain, liver problem etc. Alcohol consumption affects the brain which again causes delayed reflexes, clumsiness, slurred speech and many more. As it stimulates insulin production, it speeds up glucose metabolism causing low blood sugar and possibly death for diabetics.

Alcohol consumption also increases the risk of Cancer. According to WHO, in 2014 harmful alcohol consumption caused about 3.3 million deaths annually worldwide. Vomiting and unconsciousness occur in people who have low alcohol tolerance. Stress hangovers, oral contraceptive pill increases the desire for alcohol as these things lower the level of testosterone. Tobacco also increases the craving for alcohol. There is perhaps a positive correlation between the two, smoking and alcohol.

Cell membranes are highly permeable to alcohol and so if alcohol is in the bloodstream, it diffuses into every cell in the body. Eating a heavy meal and then drinking alcohol causes further problems. Extreme levels of alcohol consumption can lead to alcohol poisoning and death. Alcohol exacerbates sleep problems.

A systematic analysis of data from the Global burden of disease study found that long-term consumption of any amount of alcohol is associated with an increased risk of death in all people and even moderate consumption appears to be risky.

It is very dangerous to have alcohol during pregnancy. As alcohol passes through the bloodstream it easily passes through Placenta and goes to the bloodstream of the fetus, which creates interference in brain and organ development. Alcohol can affect the fetus at any time during pregnancy. The risk of damage depends on the amount of alcohol consumption. Drinking regularly causes the greatest damage. The problems associated with alcohol mania are low birth weight, small head size, vision problems. A recent study has shown that 21% of patients admitted to the emergency department of hospitals are suffering from either direct or indirect alcohol-related injuries.

Men have been more likely than women to drink alcohol and damage their health. Many countries suggest that the gender gap is narrowing and nowadays young college girls and women are consuming alcohol more than males.

Consuming alcohol excessively can have adverse effects on the brain. Ethanol reduces communication between brain cells. Binge drinking leads to blackouts. Chronic alcohol intake causes permanent damage in the brain. It may increase the risk of dementia. Alcohol intake and depression are closely and associated. People facing anxiety and depression drink to reduce stress and improve mode. They get a few hours of relief. But it ultimately affects the overall mental health. Alcohol is a high-calorie rich nutrient after fat. Some people become addicted to alcoholism.

Amount & dose of alcohol

There are huge variations of alcohol content and the size of dinks across countries. Intake capability also differs significantly from person to person as also country to country. Like all other habits, everybody should have complete knowledge of alcoholic drinking.

Unfortunately, in developing countries, the majority of people do not have any idea and knowledge of drinking. So whatever they get free, they cross the limits and create a nuisance. In many situations, they drink poisonous locally made drinks and die in dozens together. Therefore, if you drink for enjoyment, be careful to end up in bliss, not in chaos and death.

The optimum quantity is not absolute. But the ideal size depends on geography- temperate or tropical, age, stage of life, men or women, etc. Day time alcohol consumption in tropical countries is extremely bad. However, one should not cross 200 ml per day. Still another stricture: always mix your alcohol with 5 times water, and never drink alcohol with Soda or Cold Drinks; that will finish your Lever in a very short period. The best way is to mix enough lemon to remain fit for many years.

Is alcohol consumption injurious to health? Some studies have shown that drinking occasionally and in moderate doses has some benefits also.

Red wine helps to burn fat. A glass of red wine helps us with weight loss efforts. A study shows that dark red grapes found in some types of red wine can help people manage obesity due to chemicals called ellagic acid. The chemical slows down the growth of fat cells. Alcohol helps to fight cold. Antioxidants in red wine can help reduce the risk of a cold by 60%. Red wine is also beneficial for the heart. Red wine can boost our memory. It has also been linked with beneficial changes ranging from better sensitivity to insulin to improvements in factors that influence blood clotting. The finding is applicable to both men and women.

Moderate alcohol consumption actually adds periods to our life. Drinking less reduces the risk of death by 18%. Moderate alcohol consumption reduces the risk of gallstones by one third. It can play a part in a healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of developing diabetes type 2.

Trips for Alcohol Consumption:

Alcohol is not an ordinary commodity. It is both a source of joy for a few and a source of sorrow for the majority, mediocre people.  Its harmful consequences are diverse and widespread. As we all know, the world has become a chaotic place except for some developed countries. Lawlessness in the developing world has become an order of the day. So in order to reduce harms caused by alcohol, state policies need to take into account specific situations in different societies in different ways. Avoid driving after drinking to live longer.

Governments in developing and poor countries must set up a national monitoring system that will work as the watchdog for alcohol consumption and its consequences and raise awareness among the public and policymakers. Civil societies should also cooperate with the authorities to strengthen the implementation of rules and regulations. Otherwise, many lives in these countries are at stake, and family members particularly women and children suffer a lot. It is up to both government and concerned citizens to encourage debate and formulate effective public health policies to minimize the harms caused by alcohol.
