The Best Way to Keep Your Heart Strong via Yoga

As we all know, Heart is one of the best organs for every moment of our survival. You should know “How to Keep Your Heart Strong via Yoga.” If Heart stops, everything ends once and for all. So, you should not compromise to keep your heart young. To do this, you will have to eat heart-friendly food, do heart-specific Yoga without fail, sleep well, enjoy leisure in good natural pursuits.

Among all the organs, Heart is such an important organ that if it stops for a few seconds, life ends instantaneously. This is true for humans too. It does not make any difference for rich or poor, educated or uneducated, African or European, American or Asian. In a sense, Heart is the main engine for our Body Temple. So, we can not compromise for the best health of Heart.

The chief function of the Heart is to pump blood throughout the body. The heart supplies oxygen and nutrients to our tissues and removes carbon dioxide and also various wastes from the blood. Structurally, the Heart is a muscular organ in most animals. It pumps blood through the blood vessels of the circulatory system of the body. Blood is like engine fuel. It helps assist in removing metabolic wastes. In human beings, the Heart is located between the two parts of the lungs. It is located in the middle compartment of the chest.

The Heart is divided into four chambers. These are upper left and right atria and lower left and right ventricles. These are the features of Heart in humans, other mammals and birds. On the other hand, fishes have two chambers, an atrium and a ventricle. In sharp contrast, reptiles have three chambers. In a perfectly functioning Heart, blood flows in one direction only through the Heart due to Heart valves. The valves are there to prevent backflow. The wall of the Heart is very complex. It is made up of three layers, namely epicardium, myocardium, and endocardium.

As per medical science, the Heartbeats at an average rate close to 72 beats per minute, which is 60 seconds. When you play or do exercise, the rate increases. When you take rests, Heartbeat rate falls below 72. If this happens, your heart is in perfect condition. Now the question is: how to keep your Heart in best functioning conditions. There two main ways: Heart friendly Yoga and Food.

Best Yoga Practice for Heart:

Viparitkarani Mudra, Yogamudra, Pavanmuktasana.

Viparitkarani Mudra

Viparita Karani Mudra

It is also called “Shoulder Standing Position”. Sarvangasana is the perfect form of Viparitkarani Mudra or Yoga, the latter is just an imperfect form.

How to do it?

Lie down on your back on a soft mat or bed with the hands by your sides. Now use your hands to support the waist and lift your whole body with legs up to rest on your neck and shoulder. Your face and eyes can see the front sides of the legs. If you do not feel discomfort, continue to do this for 1 to 2 minutes, with normal breathing. Then come down and practice Shovasana (lying down) in a thoughtless mind. Rest for 1 to 2 minutes. Then again make the 2nd attempt, and then take rest, and finally the 3rd attempt. Please do not make any hurry, always be slow and steady and continuous.

Benefits:

Sarvangasana has a great many virtues. All the glands in the throat and surrounding areas such as Thyroid, Para-thyroid, Tonsils and Salivary glands are revitalized by regular practice of this Yoga. It strengthens the Heart. It also smoothens the respiratory organs. Modern endocrinologists have found that ‘iodine’ is secreted in internal thyroid glands, which helps maintain diverse glands and nerves in our health. Sarvangasana helps maintain the requirement of ‘iodine’ secretion. This gland is also called the “gland of youth” as it helps maintain the signs of youth in the body for both girls and boys. So, this Yoga is also called “aging fighter”. Indirectly, it may be called Youth Yoga.

Regular practice of Sarvangasana also evades the diseases of Heart, Cholera, Small Pox, Typhoid, Pneumonia, Colic or Leprosy, Constipation, Indigestion, Liver problems, Spleen troubles, Menstrual disorder for girls and displacement of Uterus. It also eradicates General Weakness, Vertigo, Piles and Hernia. So, regularly practice Sarvangasana in the morning and evening in an empty stomach. You will definitely win the race of life from student age. Girls can also feel free during the Menstrual Period.

Yogomudra

Yogomudra

Sit in Padmasana (Lotus Position), simply in cross leg position. Then twist the hands in the backside corresponding to the waist, clutch (catch) the left-hand wrist with the right hand. Now, you have to exhale the breath and bend in front to touch the ground by your forehead. Keep in this position for 10 to 15 seconds without taking a breath. Then slowly return to the original position while inhaling smoothly. Perform this Yoga as above for 5 to 6 times in a single sitting during the initial phase.

Benefits:

This Yoga prepares your body for Yogic or dispassionate purposes, and hence, it is called Yoga mudra. It cures your Heart disorder as well as Liver enlargement and Spleen. It also strengthens your Respiratory system, vitalizes nerves and glands, improves general health. Finally, it reduces your extra fats in the belly.

Pavanamuktasana

Pavanamuktasana

It is one of the simplest Yoga positions with many good benefits. Lie down straight on your bed looking on the ceiling with hands-on respective sides as in Shavasana. Now bend the right leg at the knee and gradually press the thigh on the right chest with the pressure of both hands; put soft pressure, not hard. While raising the leg up to the chest gradually exhale, thereafter inhale and held up, stay in this position for 10 seconds. Then gradually bring down the right leg in a normal position. Follow the same process for the left leg. This makes one set complete. In this way, do these 4 to 5 times in one go. If you like and you are able, you can practice Yoga with both legs at a time. That is much more effective in releasing bad gas from the body.

Benefits:

Even if it appears simple, this Asana removes poisonous gas from the abdomen and helps cure Indigestion, Acidity and Flatulence. As a result, your Heart feels relief. It is also called a wind release pose. It also eliminates accumulated belly fat. The less the fat, the better the Heart. Additionally, it helps revitalize the abdominal muscles and nerves, setting the gastric glands there and helps remove Constipation.
